Beatles - Abbey Road

The album was created in the separation phase of the Beatles and is the last album on which the "Fab Four" - as the Beatles were also called - worked together. It was released on September 26, 1969 and is probably one of the most famous record covers. It shows the Beatles crossing the street at the crosswalk in front of Abbey Road Studios in London.

But how did it come about? As a new employee at Apple Records, John Kosh was given the job of creating the cover for the album. Since the job had to be done within a few days, he went back to the picture in front of Abbey Road Studios, which the photographer Iain Macmillan took in August 1969. He made sure that everyone had the same leg position.
John Kosh boldly chose not to print the band name or album title on the front cover, explaining his decision as follows: "I thought, 'Here are the four Beatles walking across the street.' If you don't know who they are, you've definitely been in a cave somewhere."

Abbey Road entered the U.K. album charts at No. 1 in October and stayed there for a total of seventeen of its 81 weeks on the charts.
